The Southwestern Athletic Conference is taking another major step in expanding the national audience for HBCU sports.
The SWAC has announced the launch of a dedicated free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channel for SWAC TV, bringing conference programming to a broader audience across several major streaming platforms.
The new SWAC TV FAST channel will be available through Prime Video, Plex, Xumo Play, Amazon Fire TV, Google TV and Dingo TV, with additional distribution platforms expected to be announced later.
Unlike traditional subscription-based streaming services, FAST channels allow viewers to access programming for free while supporting the platform through advertising.
📺 SWAC TV Goes National
The expansion represents the next phase of the SWAC’s growing digital-media strategy.
According to the conference, increased viewership and engagement surrounding SWAC TV’s live and on-demand programming helped create the opportunity to expand beyond the platform’s existing distribution.
SWAC Commissioner Dr. Charles McClelland described the expansion as a major moment for the conference and emphasized the opportunity to place SWAC programming on platforms already used by millions of viewers.
The FAST channel will feature:
- 🏈 Live sporting events
- 🎥 Original SWAC programming
- 📺 On-demand content
- 🏫 Programming highlighting all 12 SWAC member institutions
- 🏆 Coverage across the conference’s 18 sponsored sports
The SWAC says the dedicated channel gives fans, alumni and supporters another way to follow their favorite programs without a paywall.

🏈 The Launch Comes During Week 3
The timing is significant for SWAC football fans.
The FAST channel’s live sports programming begins Saturday, September 19, during Week 3 of the 2026 college football season.
The SWAC’s official Week 3 schedule lists nine conference schools in action, with seven games scheduled for SWAC TV:
- Virginia-Lynchburg at Bethune-Cookman — 3 p.m.
- Central State at Arkansas-Pine Bluff — 4 p.m.
- Louisiana Christian at Southern — 6 p.m.
- Delta State at Mississippi Valley State — 6 p.m.

All times are Central. (Southwestern Athletic Conference)
That means the FAST channel launches with a full slate of SWAC football programming rather than simply debuting as an offseason or archival-content destination.
📈 A Bigger Digital Footprint for the SWAC
The move also builds on the conference’s existing streaming infrastructure.
SWAC TV already provides free access to live league events, on-demand replays and original programming through its digital ecosystem. The conference previously announced that its platform was available through devices including Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Google Play and Android TV. (Southwestern Athletic Conference)
The FAST expansion gives SWAC programming another distribution pathway and places the conference alongside the growing number of sports organizations using free, ad-supported television to reach audiences outside traditional cable and subscription streaming.
The SWAC has partnered with Triple B Media to operate and distribute the new FAST channel.
Triple B Media co-founder and chief commercial officer Brendan Canning said the channel will build on the existing audience for SWAC programming by making the content available to an even broader audience without a paywall.
🎯 Why This Matters
For the SWAC, this isn’t simply another place to watch football.
A dedicated FAST channel gives the conference the ability to create a more consistent television destination around its entire athletic footprint.
That includes football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer, track and field and the conference’s other championship sports.
The expansion also gives the SWAC another vehicle to showcase its student-athletes, member institutions and conference brand to viewers who may not already be familiar with the league’s existing digital platforms.
And with additional distribution platforms expected to be announced throughout the 2026-27 academic year, the SWAC’s streaming footprint could continue to grow.
📺 The Bottom Line
SWAC TV is no longer simply a digital destination for conference games.
With the launch of its dedicated FAST channel, the conference is expanding its presence across some of the biggest streaming ecosystems in the country and creating another free avenue for fans to consume HBCU sports.
The first live programming on the new channel begins Saturday, September 19, with Week 3 of the 2026 college football season.
The SWAC is betting that the next generation of HBCU sports viewers won’t just find its content — they’ll find it where they already watch television.
